Grants kicks off Dual Fuel Truck trial with Newhaul and Warradarge Energy

Warradarge Energy is pleased to announce that our project partner - Newhaul Pty Ltd (a 100% owned subsidiary of Fenix Resources Limited) have been awarded funding from  the Government of Western Australia’s Carbon Innovation Grants Program administered by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, as well as the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s (ARENA) Advancing Renewables Program.

The funding will help deliver a landmark hydrogen dual-fuel hydrogen injection technology in collaboration with Change Fuel Technologies.

The six-month trial will see two Newhaul trucks fitted with Change Fuel Technologies’ hydrogen dual-fuel system, demonstrating one of the first Australia’s deployments of low-emissions hydrogen technology on some of the largest road-going vehicles in Australia. The initiative builds on proven results from similar systems successfully adopted in New Zealand within HW Richardson’s fleet.

The trial is due to commence in Q1 2026.

 For Warradarge Energy, the project represents the first phase of a broader partnership with Newhaul to develop, deploy and ultimately scale next-generation decarbonisation solutions for heavy transport and mining, supplied by our Warradarge Green Hydrogen Project.

Warradarge Energy looks forward to continue working closely with Newhaul, Change Fuel Technologies and Xodus Group as Australia advances towards a lower-carbon heavy-transport future.

The trial is supported by funds from ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program and the Government of Western Australia’s Carbon Innovation Grants Program administered by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.
