The Mid-West region of Western Australia has long been known for its exceptional wind resources. With consistent, strong breezes sweeping across the landscape, it's the perfect location for wind energy generation. At Warradarge Energy, we're proud to be at the centre of this renewable energy hub through our partnership with the Warradarge Wind Farm (WWF).
The Warradarge Wind Farm, located approximately 20km south of Eneabba, has established itself as one of Australia's top-performing wind energy assets. With a capacity factor consistently exceeding 40% – among the highest in the country – the farm demonstrates the exceptional quality of the region's wind resource.
Originally developed with a 180MW capacity, the farm is currently undergoing an expansion that will increase its nameplate capacity to 288MW by the end of 2025. This significant growth reinforces the site's status as a premier renewable energy asset and strengthens Western Australia's clean energy infrastructure.
What makes the Warradarge Wind Farm so effective? The answer lies in both location and technology.
The site experiences consistent diurnal wind patterns, meaning reliable generation throughout the day and night. Unlike some intermittent renewable resources, the wind profile at Warradarge offers high predictability and consistency.
The farm utilises advanced turbine technology with towers designed specifically for the local conditions. Each turbine converts the region's strong winds into clean electricity that powers thousands of homes and businesses across Western Australia.
The Warradarge Wind Farm delivers substantial benefits beyond just renewable energy generation:
Our vision extends beyond the current Warradarge Wind Farm. We're exploring developing additional wind resources on our 16,000+ hectares of strategic land holdings through our partnership with Synergy RED.
The planned Warradarge South (Booloogoo) Wind and Solar Farm represents the next phase of our renewable energy journey, potentially adding up to 1.5 GW of clean energy capacity to the region.
This expansion will serve as the foundation for our broader energy ambitions, including green hydrogen production and green steel manufacturing – creating a complete clean energy ecosystem in Western Australia's Mid-West.
Wind power remains one of the most efficient and cost-effective forms of renewable energy. As Australia moves toward a cleaner energy future, assets like the Warradarge Wind Farm will play an increasingly important role in our energy mix.
The technology continues to advance, with larger, more efficient turbines and improved forecasting capabilities enhancing the reliability and performance of wind energy. These developments make wind an increasingly attractive investment for energy companies and investors alike.
At Warradarge Energy, we're proud of our connection to one of Australia's premier wind assets and excited about the role wind energy will play in our diversified clean energy portfolio.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to harness the power of Western Australia's wind resources and build a sustainable energy future.
